Dina Shehata is a Technical Assistance Specialist & DEIJ Coordinator at AnLar. Dina has experience providing TA and project management internationally and domestically, and she has extensive experience supporting students and professionals of diverse backgrounds through various leadership initiatives. Through her role as DEIJ Coordinator, she develops AnLar’s DEIJ strategy in partnership with the Operations Team.
Before coming to AnLar, Dina worked for a global development and education nonprofit where she supported community leaders from across the Middle East and North Africa to strengthen their networks, collaborate on leadership initiatives, and develop their skills in order to contribute to their communities. She has also assisted refugees with their transition to life in the US by co-creating a week-long summer camp for refugee children and their parents to help them transition into the American school system. Dina received a B.A. in Global Studies and Psychology, Minor in Arabic from the University of North Carolina and a Master of International Studies degree (focus on US/Middle East Relations) from North Carolina State University.
Dina is the oldest of triplets (yes, by 5 minutes). They have a younger sister who graduated from NC State University which is problematic considering the Shehatas are a Tar Heel family. When Dina isn’t working, she is planning her next travel adventure to reach her goal of visiting all 7 continents. Her second home is Egypt, so she often travels back to visit her family and relax on the beaches of the Red Sea. Dina’s favorite time of year is fall, when you can find her enjoying the weather outdoors, going to the scariest haunted houses, and making pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.
