AnLar is seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual to join our accounting team. We are looking for an individual with experience with journal entries, monthly close and basic financial reporting. We are looking to add a versatile, independent, disciplined problem-solver who enjoys being part of a team of people doing influential work. This position will assist the accounting team with regular close and business activities.
This is a part-time hourly position (1099), approximately 16 – 24 hours a week. This is a hybrid position, with at least one day required in our Arlington office and the remaining time remote.
The salary range for this position is $36 – $43/hour. We make data-driven offers based on a candidate’s skills and related experience aligned with our company-wide salary structure. What the job entails:
Responsibilities include standard monthly accounting activities as well as supporting our various project teams in various reporting and analysis, including:
- Month End Closing: Prepare and review journal entries independently to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Ensure all transactions are recorded in compliance with accounting standards. Compile necessary reconciliations for moderately complex balance sheet accounts.
- Reporting: Generate and analyze monthly financial statements. Instigate and resolve discrepancies mostly independently. Assist with regular project reporting and analysis of project related financial reporting.
- Budgeting: Support project teams in generating and maintaining project budgets for current and new projects.
- General Business Operating Processes: Assist in the maintenance of federal and state compliance and reporting for the business and its employees.
What skill set we’re looking for:
- Prior accounting experience: You have experience creating journal entries and financial reports. You have a functional understanding of the relationship between the trial balance accounts. You are able to review financial reports and identify and resolve discrepancies with minimal oversight.
- Planning and proactivity: You have stellar attention to detail and amazing time management skills. You can prioritize multiple activities based on needs and timelines. Dependable and organized, you seek out creative ways to proactively solve problems and expand on what is working while meeting deadlines to ensure effective implementation of all events.
- Effective communication: You communicate early and often with all involved to ensure that everyone knows key event details, including the project team, client, and participants. You effectively tailor your communication to different audiences and ensure that written guidance is comprehensive and approachable. You are an active listener who can remain responsive and flexible in challenging situations.
- Adaptability: While you are organized, proactive, and systematic, you can also change. You actively seek better solutions while ensuring the client’s expectations and requirements are met.
Who the right candidate is:
- Required:
- A minimum of 3-5 years prior accounting experience
- Demonstrated experience with accounting platforms such as Quickbooks, bill.com, Expensify, etc.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Ability to create and analyze basic to moderate journal entries and financial reports independently
- Coachable and open to giving and receiving feedback.
- A team player. You step up when someone needs help, follow through on your commitments, and are willing to go the extra mile for your team and our clients.

- Preferred, but not required:
- CPA
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
